I want to thank my honorable opponent, Congressman Bill Sali.
As attention rightfully falls away from my campaign to Congressman Sali’s re-election effort I must take the opportunity to thank the hundreds of volunteers that powered my primary effort. To simply say thank you would be a gross disservice to the sustained efforts expended on my behalf.
As I wrote this speech I was, and am, at a loss for words. So many people I know and so many more that I did not know came together to make this run. They are all family now.
Many questioned my run. Many thought it was a mistake. I offer to you that this is as far from the truth as is possible. After our debate, I was told by a long time Idaho political observer that they had never seen Congressman Sali speak as he did that day.
Again I say to you that iron sharpens iron, and competition breeds excellence. My opponent is sharp, and has truly demonstrated that he is the Republican choice in the 1st congressional district and is ready to hold this seat for our party.
It is time for me to quietly step aside and allow him to enjoy both his victory and the full and unconditional support of Idaho’s Republicans.
Thank you.
