SALISBURY GARNERS NPPA ENDORSEMENT IN CLOSE RACE FOR IDAHO 1ST CONGRESSIONAL SEAT

    Sunday, May 25, 2008

    Contact:Dallas McKellips 208.250.5303

Nampa, ID - The Nampa Police Protective Association's announced on Saturday, May 24, their endorsement of Matt Salisbury for Idaho's 1st Congressional District Seat, stating, "It is our privilege and honor to publicly endorse (Matt Salisbury) for the U.S. Congress. It is our belief, and that of our members, that you are the right choice for Idaho. Your dedication and determination matched with the ability to 'think outside of the box' make you the best person for the job."

"As first responders, our police officers, fire fighters, and EMTs face unprecedented security challenges and deserve nothing less than our fullest support," said Salisbury, an Iraq war combat veteran. "I am deeply honored by their faith in me."

Salisbury also announced his campaign was gaining momentum daily as demonstrated by a recent poll of voters in Ada and Canyon County. Poll results showed Salisbury in a statistical dead heat with Bill Sali, separated by just 3 points, at thirty-one percent (31%) to twenty-eight percent (28%), well within the margin of error. Forty-one percent (41%) remain undecided.

"This is the result of an amazing and dynamic grassroots effort by my extraordinary supporters," praised Salisbury. The campaign's efforts have raised Salisbury's name ID nearly 50 points from seven percent (7%) last month to fifty-six percent (56%) this month.

"We know that these numbers reflect a moment in time. However, we are extremely excited to be in this position among Ada and Canyon County voters, and are filled with confidence that our message of a strong national defense, lower taxes and government spending, and ACTION RATHER THAN TALK is indeed one shared by our fellow Idaho Republicans."

The poll was conducted by Greg Smith and Associates.

SALISBURY TAKES "DO NOT ROBO CALL" PLEDGE

    Tuesday, April 1, 2008

    Contact: Shaun Dakin

WASHINGTON, D.C. April, 1st 2008 – Candidate for Congress Matt Salisbury (Idaho, First District) today announced his pledge not to conduct "robo" calls to voters in his district. Matt Salisbury is the third politician to take the "Do Not Robo Call" pledge since the non-profit Citizens for Civil Discourse launched the National Political Do Not Contact Registry last October at StopPoliticalCalls.org.

"Politicians are directly responsible for voter apathy," Salisbury pointed out. "Candidates and Politicians hide behind special interest money to bombard the public with empty spin messages and manipulated truth. All in hopes that if the voter is harassed enough, the loudest voice will be elected if only to stop the shouting. I don't appreciate my dinner or time with family being interrupted by a politician or special interest group that doesn't care enough to have a real person make the call. Taking this pledge fits hand in hand with my campaign's goal of reaching the voters personally and demonstrating that I am different and hold myself to a higher standard. Although the downside to this is my opponent may decide to join me, and that would stop a fantastic source of new supporters".

"We are very pleased that Matt Salisbury has agreed not to robocall Idaho voters in the first district," said Shaun Dakin, founder and CEO of StopPoliticalCalls.org. "He has taken the first decisive step in what I believe to be the crucial effort of giving voters back their privacy and peace and quiet in their own homes. The voters of Idaho are fortunate to have someone like Matt running for Congress."

The National Political Do Not Contact Registry fills a void in the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) National Do Not Call (DNC) registry. Because the First Amendment protects political speech, political calls are specifically excluded from the Federal DNC. While Americans have registered nearly 150 million phone numbers with the DNC, Georgetown University research determined that 3 out of 4 voters do not know that political calls are exempt from the DNC. In fact, The Pew Research Center for the People and the Press found that 81 percent of Iowa caucus voters received automated (or "robo") calls during November 2007.

"I started the StopPoliticalCalls.org to give voters back their sanity during election season," said Dakin. "Many voters consider their homes to be a sanctuary and consider calls – especially the automated 'robo' calls – from politicians and political groups to be invasive."

At the voluntary National Political Do Not Contact Registry, our members report receiving 10 to 15 calls about robocalls each day during election season. Mothers are having their babies awakened from naps. Night shift workers who sleep during the day are not able to get the rest they need to be productive. Seniors live in fear of a health emergency occurring while their phone line is tied up with yet another robocall.

A member wrote to us recently: "My 85-year-old mother who had a stroke sometimes is at home alone, and when these phone calls come in, it confuses her and gets her upset when someone doesn't listen to her. She doesn't understand that it is an automated call."

    About Matt Salisbury:

Salisbury has been active in Idaho politics for over a decade, serving in multiple volunteer and leadership roles within the GOP. Salisbury has been a small business owner, and successful corporate manager. He has a profound love of America and fresh perspective needed by Idaho's 1st C.D. Matt served on Active duty with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and a combat tour in Iraq under Idaho's 116th with the GSR's. Salisbury is a 4th Generation Canyon County resident, 3rd Generation Nampa High School graduate, 3rd Generation Northwest Nazarene graduate and is the 8th generation to serve in the military.

Salisbury received his BA in Political Science from NNU and finished his Masters work in International Diplomacy from Norwich University in Vermont. Matt and his wife Chandra have three children.

About the National Political Do Not Contact Registry – StopPoliticalCalls.org:

The National Political Do Not Contact Registry is a program of Citizens for Civil Discourse (CCD), non-partisan, non-profit organization (federal 501(c)(3) status pending) dedicated to elevating political discussion in the United States. CCD is based on the premise that the decline of civility in American political dialogue has diminished our nation's capacity to address urgent problems. Founder and CEO Shaun Dakin believes that citizen action is required to restore decency, respect and common sense to public debate in this country.

CCD created the National Political Do Not Contact registry as a first step towards its goal by reducing unwanted political phone calls, particularly automated messages ("robo" calls). Because the U.S. Constitution protects political speech, CCD advocates addressing this issue not by enacting new legislation but by encouraging voters to take back control of the political conversation and make free speech a two-way exchange. Voters from across the nation will be able to elect to Congress asquad-size element of Iraq vets who are dedicated to complete the mission in the War on Terror, counter calls for defeat, and demand America's veterans receive the benefits they have earned, according to the Iraq Vets for Congress website.

SALISBURY JOINS VETS IN DC TO SUPPORT GENERAL PETRAEUS

National Press Club, Washington DC, March 8, 2008

Nampa, ID - Iraq Veterans for Congress - Kieran Lalor (New York), Tom Roughneen (New Jersey), Matt Salisbury (Idaho), Duane Sand (North Dakota), Vincent Micco (New Jersey), and William Russell (Pennsylvania)- made a joint statement in support of General Petraeus for his testimony before Congress, during their press conference at the National Press Club yesterday.

Speaking on behalf of the group William Russell stated:

"We want to express our support of General Petraeus in his testimony before Congress. Based on the way the General was treated by members of Congress during his testimony last year, we want to express our support of him. Most of us have either worked for him somewhere down the chain-of-command, or worked with fellow Soldiers who know him. We have complete faith and confidence in his leadership. He is a man of impeccable integrity and a consummate warrior. Just as so many of the Soldiers serving under his command today stake their lives on his leadership and integrity on a daily basis, we are willing to stake our lives on General Petraeus' integrity. We challenge the press to find anyone in Washington DC who would credibly say they would stake their lives on the integrity of Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or John Murtha."

Adding his voice Salisbury stated, "It is an honor and privilege to be a part of the Iraq Vets for Congress. Our joint statement that Bill so eloquently stated is a perfect example of the synergy and growing excitement building across the nation. These men are not only fellow candidates, they are brothers in arms and good personal friends. If we all have the honor of winning office, this group is going to have a massive impact in Washington from day one, and the folks in Idaho's 1st Congressional district are ready for this type of selfless service".

Matt Salisbury is the Republican challenger in the May 27th primary, running against first term incumbent Bill Sali for Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat.

SALISBURY INVITED TO SPEAK AT POLITICS ONLINE CONFERENCE IN D.C.

"The grassroots paradigm has not only shifted, it has evolved. We are already operating in whole new political ecology and the Democrats beat us here," contends Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District. "My campaign is revitalizing Idaho voters at a gut level. It is finding traction because Congressman Sali is out of touch with his voter base and beholden to out of state special interest groups."

Salisbury has been tapped to join a panel of speakers at the Politics Online Conference because of his successful efforts to reach Idaho voters.

"Actually touching the individual voter creates a relationship that no amount of money can interrupt. We have a picture of Truman holding a Newspaper with the headline 'Dewey Wins!' in our campaign office," stated Salisbury. "We have too many politicians who are more concerned about their DC interests than in their constituents."

According to Politics Online, "In 2004, Presidential candidates tasked their largest contributors to tap in to their networks to raise enormous sums of money through large dollar contributions. In the 2008 cycle, candidates have improved the model and are focusing on small-dollar donors who can contribute smaller amounts in monthly contributions." The panel will answer the question: What impact has this Revolution of People-Powered Politics had on the 2008 election cycle?

Salisbury believes the system is not broken, but "from a personal political perspective, we have a massive amount of operator error. Idaho voters are shaking off the dust and feel like they have a voice again. My campaign is driven on small dollars from folks in Idaho. It isn't easy, but understanding the ground you are operating in is over 80% of the fight."

Entering its 15th year the Politics Online Conference, hosted by the Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet, has firmly established itself as the premiere conference for online political professionals in America, regularly attracting over 500 attendees from across the globe. This year, George Washington University Graduate School of Politics is putting the event together at The Renaissance Washington DC Hotel.

The speakers list for the conference in a venerable who's who in the online world. Salisbury will be speaking on the panel for LONG TAIL POLITICS: The Revolution of People-Powered Politics.

The panel includes Cyrus Krohn – RNC eCampaign Director, Zack Exley — Co-Founder and President, New Organizing Institute, Matt Salisbury – Republican Candidate for Congress (Idaho-1), and Clay Johnson — Founder, Blue State Digital. Among the distinguished panelists, Salisbury is the only candidate for elected office.

"I'm really excited about how the panel shaped up. They are all total A-listers," praises moderator David All, president of The David All Group, LLC, co-founder of Slatecard, founder of TechRepublican, and an active contributor to TechPresident and The Open House Project.

Conference attendees include online politicos of all descriptions: political consultants, lobbyists, congressional staffers, trade association representatives, academics and reporters. Leading lights of the online political industry mix with complete novices. The results are stimulating academic discussions, high-brow technology debates and basic how-to discussions.

SALISBURY CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES FIRST OF SERIES OF TOWN HALL MEETINGS

"Who better to discuss the issues facing Idaho than the citizens of Idaho?" asked Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat. "Town hall democracy goes to the heart of my philosophy that local citizens addressing local issues is the best way to govern."

The first of a series of town hall meetings will be held, Thursday Feb. 28th in Meridian. This event is free to the public and will be held at the Wild West Bakery and Espresso, located at 611 North Main.

"It's exciting to be part of the process. I am happy to provide a format that gives people a chance to meet Matt and find out what he is all about," said Wynette Mellen, owner of Wild West Bakery and Espresso.

Salisbury will be speaking about issues that are important to him and then taking questions from the audience. The event will run from 7:30 – 8:30 pm.

"We're reaching voters from Nevada to the Canadian border talking about the concerns of everyday Idahoans; momentum is building - we see it every day." stated Salisbury.

SALISBURY CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES FUNDRAISING VICTORY - OUT RAISES SALI IN IDAHO

Nampa, Idaho (PRWEB) February 14, 2008 -- "January's Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing is the clearest indication to date, that my campaign is essential in keeping the first congressional district Republican," said congressional candidate Matt Salisbury today. Salisbury, an Iraq combat veteran, announced that he has received more dollars from more individuals in the 1st Congressional District than GOP Incumbent Bill Sali by a 2-1 margin, according to federal reports.

"In his brief federal career, Congressman Sali continues to require out of state special interest groups to fund his campaigns," Salisbury said. He is challenging freshman Republican Bill Sali in Idaho's primary on May 27th.

Based on the January 31 (FEC) filing, the Sali campaign raised 8 out of every 10 dollars from special interest groups based in Washington D.C., New York and California. "It's primary time, and again Bill is forced to look to out of state special interest groups for his support," observed Salisbury. "I am honored that I am raising money from everyday working Idahoans."

Salisbury for Congress raised $21,081, spent $15,641 and had $5,441 in the bank at the time of the report.

FEC reports indicate Sali for Congress is more than $150,000 in debt and spending money it doesn't have. In contrast, Salisbury's volunteer driven campaign is in the black, fully operational, and reaching voters from Nevada to the Canadian border. "We haven't raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, but we have raised more money from more Idahoans than the incumbent. I am proud of our fiscally responsible grass roots campaign."

Salisbury predicted, "I am going to win this primary and the general election because we are moving house by house, block by block and reaching Republican and independent voters. Not only do they like what they hear, they are giving. The lion's share of my donations are small - $1, $10, $25, or $100. That kind of math wins elections."

"This race is going to be about who reaches the voters, not who raises the most out of state special interest money."

The Salisbury for Congress campaign is a refreshing contrast to the other 1st Congressional campaigns. "My campaign offers real ideas and real solutions. I trust the voters in the 1st Congressional district."

SALISBURY CAMPAIGN COLLECTS DONATIONS FOR FOOD BANKS

Nampa - In keeping with his commitment to service, Matt Salisbury, Republican challenger in Idaho's 1st Congressional District primary, today led volunteers who participated in a combined canned food drive for Idaho food banks and door-to-door voter outreach.

"Matt has made it clear his campaign is about adding value to communities and actions always speak louder than words," said Tom Green, who, along with his wife, Jessica and daughter, braved Saturday's winter chill.

"Elected representatives should embody service. That is best accomplished through actions," Salisbury stated. "As a team leader in Iraq, I never asked anyone to do something I was unwilling to do myself. My campaign will be conducted in the same way.

Besides, this is a fun way for me to speak directly with the people I am asking to vote for me, and have a positive impact on Idaho communities."

"Politics are too often seen as subtractive from the common good. Campaigning is almost a dirty word," said Salisbury. "This must stop. My campaign is about giving back. "

"For too long politicians have seemingly been more interested in furthering their career, rather than actually serving our interests," volunteer Frank Secord said. "It is a privilege to be a part of a candidate's team who is directly impacting in one of the communities he is seeking to represent."

Matt Salisbury is an Iraq War veteran with business experience on the local, national and international levels. Matt is a lifelong Nampa resident, having graduated from Nampa High School and Northwest Nazarene College. He earned his master's degree from Norwich University, majoring in international diplomacy with a minor in international commerce. He and his wife, Chandra, have three children, Claire-8, Christian-5, and Madeline-3.

    B. EDGAR JOHNSON JOINS SALISBURY CAMPAIGN

Reverend Dr. B. Edgar Johnson has joined Matt Salisbury's campaign for Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat, as campaign co-chairman with Pat Takasugi, stating, "I believe in Matt Salisbury's integrity. That is why I want to help him be our next Congressman."

"Matt Salisbury is not a politician. His basic philosophy that those in government are public servants has not been warped by any institutionalized political system," Dr. Johnson said.

Dr. Johnson has been a servant leader throughout his renowned career in the ministry and civic organizations. After 26 years holding the position of General Secretary of the Church of the Nazarene, he retired in 1990. Since retiring, B. Edgar has been a resource for and director of several healthy community initiatives in Nampa, among them Healthy Nampa, Healthy Youth. He has also served as an Assistant to the President of Northwest Nazarene University for church relations and community resource.

"It is an honor that someone of Dr. Johnson's caliber was willing to join my campaign. B. Edgar and I share a vision of what our country can be, and the importance of effective leadership," said Salisbury. "His work for Idaho and his depth of experience will be a significant addition in our efforts to provide proven, workable ideas and leadership for Idahoans living in the 1st Congressional District. He is truly a renaissance man."

Dr. Johnson's dedication to service has garnered him invitations to the White House numerous times, including dinner with President Reagan just prior to signing the Child Protection Act of 1984.

"Matt has a rich history of experience in serving the public," stated B. Edgar. "He has demonstrated his loyalty to the United States by putting his life on the line through his distinguished military service."

Dr. Johnson, one of Idaho's 2007 Brightest Stars, said, "Matt brings a fresh mind, fresh ideas. He has served from the grass roots and, I believe, can accomplish what Idahoans want from their representative."

"Matt's energy and enthusiasm for the ideals of the Republican Party in Idaho will bring new vigor to the party through his service. His personality and outgoing nature will serve well in developing relationships with people in Washington. Frankly, Matt plays well with others and is not the type to pick up his toys and go home. He is mature enough to not say things that will embarrass Idaho."

In addition to his service with NNU and Healthy Nampa, Healthy Youth, Dr. Johnson has spent the last 15 years fostering collaboration between community service boards, including chairing the board for the Nampa Boys and Girls Club, the Juvenile Corrections Center Advisory, and many others. Nationally, B. Edgar served on the Federal Child Protection Commission, National Coalition Against Pornography, American Family Association and several others.

SALISBURY CALLS BHUTTO ASSASSINATION A GRIM REMINDER

"The democratic movement in the Islamic world was dealt a massive blow with the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan.

Having fought militant Islam and Al Qaeda on the ground in Iraq, I know personally the ramifications of this terrorist act and what our country and democratic nations worldwide are facing," stated Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat.

"This deadly operation serves as a grim reminder of the peril that one small extremist group can cause with a single terrorist act," Salisbury said.

"The Pakistani people are mourning this loss and need to know they can count on America to help them in their quest for freedom and democracy."

Salisbury believes "any destabilization created by today's assassination threatens American interests in the region and can give the enemy another foothold for terrorist activity.

For Al Qaeda to expand its area of operations into nuclear Pakistan is not an option."

"One of the reasons I am running for Congress is that our body of government gives hope to the rest of the world as a shining example of what democracy can be. In a post 9/11world, Congress must tap the hard won experience of those who have been fighting the war against terror up close."

Salisbury was a soldier in 116th Brigade Combat Team, serving with the 216th Military Intelligence in Iraq, from 2004-2005.

In addition to his status as a veteran, Salisbury draw from business experience on the local, national and international levels.

Matt lives Nampa, having graduated from Nampa High School and Northwest Nazarene College.

SALISBURY SUPPORTS NAMPA FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE'S PROJECT SHOEBOX

Community outreach efforts like Project Shoebox provide an amazing chance to be a part of the lives of children, if only for an hour or two," said Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District. "One thing that kept my spirits up in Iraq, was the tremendous community support I received in the way of care packages from home."

"Idahoans are some of the most generous people in our nation and my wife and I feel blessed to be a part of Nampa First Church of the Nazarene's Project Shoebox. We are one small part of this very important outreach," Salisbury said.

Salisbury and his family donated shoeboxes this year along with hundreds of others and has been a part of the Project Shoebox program since it started five years ago. "Caring for our community through volunteer service programs lets our children know how precious they are to us all. It is one way that friends and neighbors can come together to help each other."

"That is a core value of Idaho, and one of our strengths. Idahoans always step forward and work together for positive change in our communities."

Matt said coming together to "meet their own needs is what communities should do." This is the first year Snake River Elementary has been part of Project Shoebox. Over 1600 shoeboxes filled with gifts and basic necessities were given to several of the elementary schools in Nampa.

Matt is a lifelong Nampa resident and member of Nampa First Church of the Nazarene. He graduated from Nampa High School and Northwest Nazarene College. He and his wife, Chandra, have three children, Claire-8, Christian-4, and Madeline-3.

SALISBURY QUESTIONS SALI'S POLITICAL WORD GAMES OVER FUNDING OF IDAHO PROGRAMS

Nampa, Idaho—"My Republican Congressman has done it again," said Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District, referring to Congressman Sali's recent voting record.

Three times in the past couple of months Congressman Bill Sali has said one thing and done the exact opposite. Sali said he supported the Veterans bill and got money for U.S. 95, but voted no on both bills containing the funding. On November 15th he voted against the bill funding the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, after bragging about money he got for important Idaho programs.

"What we want, what my candidacy can provide, is consistent thoughtful votes and true courage. The courage to tell it like it is . . .the courage to tell the voters the truth," said Matt Salisbury, Republican candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District. "We are tired of the typical politician who says one thing but does another, talking out of both sides of his mouth."

In July, Sali announced that he had secured $100,000 for the Northwest Nazarene University nursing program. Because the Congressman told them they had that money, NNU planned to use that money on the state of the art nursing facility, only to have Congressman Sali vote against the bill with the promised money

On widening highway 95, Congressman Sali announced on Nov. 14th that he had secured $500,000. Sali admitted he voted against the overall bill with the money, but in the same press release he said, "U.S. 95 has an unmistakable and irreplaceable role to play as part of Idaho's economy. This widening is important to the economic vitality of the entire state, but it is also important as it will help prevent accidents and save lives. While this may seem like a win for a freshman Congressman in the minority party, much more importantly this is a win for the people of the whole state of Idaho."

Congressman Sali also took away money from the Gritman Medical Center and a Boise detox center. Not to mention the 8 million, he was "proud that the Idaho delegation secured" in support for the Special Olympics that is now lost.

Sali defended his latest vote by saying, "Those same bills that contained funding for my Idaho projects also contained wasteful and outlandish programs that Idahoans should not be forced to subsidize.."

Sali's argument brings to mind John Kerry's infamous "I voted for it before I voted against it" defense.

"While we share many common Republican values, Bill Sali and I are different. I believe that hard-nosed negotiation, goal driven action, and the ability find common ground without sacrificing your personal beliefs take time, will never be simple and must involve common sense debate," Salisbury stated.

"Political word games won't work for Idaho" Congressman," Salisbury said, "You can't have it both ways."

CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE SPEAKS AT NORTHWEST NAZARENE UNIVERSITY

Nampa, Idaho— November 13, 2007 "The issue of why we went into Iraq is no longer the question. The question we face now is how are we going to leave it?" stated first congressional district candidate, Matt Salisbury. While speaking on his position on the war and withdrawal from Iraq, on the campus of Northwest Nazarene University, Salisbury said, "We now have a moral obligation that we must finish. Withdrawal from Iraq would provide an unchallenged base for terrorist operations throughout the Middle East and the rest of the world. Failure is not an option."

As a guest in a foreign policy class, Salisbury addressed students on the topic of US policy in Iraq. Salisbury fielded questions ranging from what kind of responsibility the US has to intercede in international human rights crises to where the line should be drawn in Americanization of non-Western countries. He spoke from his personal experience in Iraq with the Idaho National Guard and his extensive study of international diplomacy while completing his master's degree in diplomacy and international commerce with Norwich University.

NNU Senior Lacey Young, from Portland, Oregon said of Salisbury's address, "I was impressed with how approachable he was and his willingness to answer any question we asked. He didn't shy away from difficult subjects, like the war in Iraq. He addressed the same tough questions that other politicians would avoid with honest, realistic answers. His attitude was refreshing and is necessary for finding solutions to some of the most difficult issues our nation is facing."

Salisbury, a 1998 Northwest Nazarene University alumnus, took time from his busy campaign to address the students' concerns surrounding domestic and international law. The NNU student newspaper in its most recent issue, announced Salisbury's candidacy to the student body, and opinion editor, Aimee Niles, also a member of the foreign policy class, covered his lecture. Her paraphrase of Matt's core belief sums up his reasons for running, "his experiences in Iraq shaped his views and his desire to run for the United States Congress."

Salisbury announced July 4th that he is seeking Idaho's 1st Congressional District seat. Salisbury served with the 216th Military Intelligence GSR's as a part the Idaho National Guard deployment in Iraq. Salisbury, a former business owner, is employed by Phillips Industries. He and his wife Chandra have three children and live in Nampa.

NAMPA - - Former GOPAC political Director Tom Morgan has signed on as strategic consultant for Matt Salisbury's campaign for Congress. "It means a lot to have someone with Tom's national experience and credentials working for the campaign," said Salisbury Chairman Pat Takasugi in making the announcement.

"Tom Morgan was one of Newt Gingrich's top political operatives," Takasugi said. GOPAC, a political action group chaired by Newt Gingrich, laid the groundwork for the Republican Revolution that culminated in 1994 with the Contract for America.

Morgan said he is volunteering his time for the Salisbury campaign. "Matt Salisbury has the new ideas and new approaches to lead America. Frankly, this Congress is a failure and America needs the bold leadership Matt brings. We cannot succeed as a nation by dividing. Matt is a conservative who has proven he can bring people together for the common good," Morgan said.

Takasugi said that Morgan's extensive contact in Washington and around the country will be a great benefit to the campaign. "He's battle hardened and a proven winner." Takasugi said.

Morgan is a long time family friend. "I've watched Matt grow up. I've seen what he has inside. Matt is not a politician. He's not a lawyer. He is a soldier dedicated to keeping American strong," he said.

Morgan added that what impressed him most is the groundswell of support from Idaho Republicans like Takasugi. "That is very rare when there is a Republican incumbent and speaks to the discontent that Rep. Sali has bred," Morgan said. He pointed out that Rep. Sali narrowly won the primary in 2006 with less than 30% Republican support.

"It is unusual for political operatives to take on a party incumbent, but in this case Idaho and America need a change, Morgan said.

Morgan noted that "in Congress, the fastest way to become ineffective for your district is to insult people, use insensitive rhetoric and draw lines in the sand that can't be held. Matt Salisbury knows how to stand firm on conservative principle without being a distraction to the process. He has led troops in battle. He has led volunteers. He has led in his community and he is widely respected. He will be a great Congressman for Idaho.

Morgan is a westerner, born in New Mexico and now living in Denver, Colorado. He has more than 25 years experience as a political consultant.

SALISBURY CAMPAIGN JOINED BY KEN ALLARD, NATIONALLY KNOWN MILITARY ANALYST

    August 25, 2007

NAMPA-- The SALISBURY FOR CONGRESS campaign today announced that a nationally known military analyst has added his endorsement to the Iraqi war veteran's effort to unseat Idaho first term representative Bill Sali. Kenneth Allard, a retired Army colonel, author and media spokesman gave Salisbury a ringing endorsement. "I have known Matt and his mother Nancy for more than a decade, sweated and prayed with them through Matt's combat deployment and shed happy tears on his safe return. He is not only a brother-in-arms but also a thoughtful, spiritual and deeply committed young man who is already one of Idaho's rising community leaders. And if you think someone of his caliber isn't needed in Washington, then you clearly don't understand what kind of trouble we're in as a nation!"

Allard, who resigned earlier this year after a decade as an MSNBC military analyst, has written extensively about the growing gap between American society and its military. "Matt and his family are the kind of people that Idaho can be proud of because they hold themselves accountable to our highest standards of patriotism and public service. Other people either don't show up, or if they do, may be in it mostly for themselves. For generations, the Salisbury family has been there in war and peace. No surprise that Matt hadn't been back from Iraq very long before he realized there was a lot left to do."

Colonel Allard, who now lives and works in San Antonio Texas, will serve as an advisor on national issues throughout the campaign. "The only thing I know about Idaho is that it is a beautiful place which produces some great Americans. But I think Matt has some important things to say to this country about our responsibilities to our soldiers, how we have to re-build our defenses and reinforce our borders. And if I can help him do that, it would be an honor."

    August 18,2007

NAMPA— Pat Takasugi, a Wilder farmer and former director of the Idaho Department of Agriculture, has signed on as Chairman of Matt Salisbury's campaign for Congress. Takasugi is best known as an agricultural advocate and for his years of work in the Canyon County Republican Central Committee.

"Matt Salisbury is reaching out to bring Idahoans together. He has a vision of how great America can be when we come together to solve big problems. Matt understands that it takes big ideas to solve big problems and he won't become mired in small debates that divide us. He has the toughness, honed in the battlefields of Iraq, to lead Idaho and America into the 21st Century. That's why I volunteered to be Matt's Chairman," Takasugi said.

"For over 50 years my family and I have farmed in Canyon County and have witnessed many changes. Today the challenges that we face as small businessmen, working men and women and young Americans are almost mind boggling. It's time for Congress to get to work actually solving our many national issues. Matt has stepped forward vowing to work hard making America competitive and economically sound. We share a love for this country and seek to make it better. It is this commitment and the man that I endorse and will introduce to Idaho."

In making the announcement, Salisbury said he is excited about having Takasugi as his campaign chairman. "Pat represents all that Idaho can be. The experience and longstanding Republican service Pat brings to this campaign are invaluable assets."

Salisbury said that having Pat Takasugi as campaign chairman sends a clear message to Idaho Republicans of the value his campaign places on traditional Idaho conservatism.

While on leave from Iraq in 2005, Salisbury was lauded by President George W. Bush in a policy speech honoring the National Guard and their families at the Idaho Center, in Nampa. The President read part of a letter recounting Salisbury's experiences in the historic 2005 Iraqi election.
